Bob’s extensive background includes everything from engineering custom compost systems to implementing natural koi pond filtration. From his thriving pecan orchard to your garden, Bob’s journey is focused on a single philosophy: providing the expertise needed to help things grow naturally.

Bob’s journey began long before Texas. Growing up in Toledo, Ohio, he was influenced by his mom, who was deeply committed to composting and organic living. She followed the work of Malcolm Beck, a pioneer in organic practices based in Austin, Texas. Malcolm was a frequent contributor in Organic Gardening, and his articles helped shape the way Bob understood soil, sustainability, and working with nature instead of against it.

After relocating to Austin, Bob quickly became a regular listener of John Dromgoole’s weekend gardening radio show. John had been mentored by Malcolm Beck and expanded the organic approach to gardening and landscaping throughout Austin. Bob’s first project was a simple two-bin compost system. He later built a 3,000-gallon koi pond with a biological filter that naturally processed fish waste.

The nutrient-rich fish emulsion and compost were applied to grass, flowers, and plants—with immediate, dramatic results. That moment sparked something bigger. Bob planted a pecan orchard, developed natural products, and began selling locally in 2018. Today, B Cool Compost & Pecans continues to grow through repeat customers, word of mouth, and a passion for helping people grow better—naturally.
